NOT SO BREAKING NEWS

When did I get so old?

I'm graduating sometime next year...probably in August. That means I'm going to have to get an apartment and a grown up job to support my husband.

SAY WHAT?

That's right peeps I said husband because by the year 2011 I will be married to my most favorite person in the whole wide world. Don't worry; I won't make this gushy unless of course I only have a female following that like zombies thrive off the gushy stuff. Oh. Wait. I think you are all female….or zombies.

Sooooo here we go:

This future husbandman lived in my apartment complex and we were in the same LDS singles ward. We didn't talk for the first half of the year. In January I went on a double date with him. Ha, my roommate went with him. She asked him. In February I started getting those "oh I might like this guy" feelings. So of course I followed them! I became really good friends with his apartment hoping that he would come out and play games with me and his roommates whenever I went over. I would say that that plan had a 50% success rate. On my birthday in March he even made ice cream with me! I thought they were great signs but yet he didn’t really budge on the asking me out on a date thing.

Spending time at his apartment became a daily occurrence for me for 2 months. Oh, yes, I’m persistent. The school year ended and still no date. You may all join me in temporary sniffling. But no worries because I went home briefly before starting my internship in Utah during the summer and he occasionally texted me. I started to think "maybe I'm not completely out of this game....or crazy." When I got back for my internship we went on a date and really it's history from there.

We are getting married December 21 and it's going to be awesome. I would make a huge list with all the reasons I love him, but I'd have to keep editing this post because each day I learn something new just reconfirming why I love him. *insert “AWW”* I feel so lucky and incredibly blessed. So the condensed like Campbell’s soup list is that he’s a good man, we help each other, he deals with my craziness, and we enjoy spending time together.

Being engaged rocks! You don’t ever have to think of dates because every Friday night is filled with wedding planning, apartment hunting, grad school looking, anxiety attacks concerning future finances, and paper cuts from invitation stuffing, labeling, and licking. Recently someone gave me the following engagement advice: dating is fun, being engaged is not as fun as dating, but being married is so much better than dating. But seriously, I love being engaged to him and can’t wait to be married to him.

Happy Engaggment (as the future husbandman says)

Blender Woes

So it has been about 3 months.....what's up with that?

School is great so far. My classes are fully loaded. I'm in mission prep (don't get any ideas it's just an easy GE), Sociology of Gender, Sociology of Racial Relationships, Research Methods and Inquiry, Advanced Family Processes (which is a research class), and Intro to Women's Studies. I have a ton of reading every night and lots and lots of papers. But I'm not letting that stunt my social life.

Two weeks ago I went on a date. It was good--nothing out of the ordinary. Then I had a date last week with another guy. Guy number two was fabulous. We went out to eat and watched a movie. It was actually a double date with Samantha too. And he even asked me out for the next night to go to a volleyball game but I had another date that night so I couldn't. *sigh* So then the next night I had a date with guy # 3 and the funniest thing happened. Guy # 3 is in my ward and was in my Stats class last semester so it was more of a friend date....no big deal, right. Apparently he was kind of in the middle of almost dating this girl in our ward so literally not even 24 hours after our date, I saw them at church holding hands. HA!! I'm way excited for them, but I'm just saying....IF they get married I should be their kid's Godmother because obviously it was after my date with Guy # 3 that he decided it was the other ward girl that he truly, madly, deeply wanted to be with. Or I should at least get a pan of brownies for my dating services.

And last but not least yesterday I made an avocado drink with Samantha. When the blender started to leak out milk I realized I forgot to put in the rubber stopper thing. Bad, I know, but easily fixed. Or so I thought. After grunting and twisting, all of my roommates and I could not get the bottom unscrewed. We then took it to the big strong guys in our ward. We went to at least 6 guys and none of them could unscrew it. After realizing that the sugar we put into the blender was probably making it sticky we started to try other methods. First we put it in hot water, then poured some oil in it to make it slick, then we tried dish soap, then we poured some vinegar in because it is supposed to melt sugar. After two hours we were still trying to unscrew it! So in my desperation I looked at the bottom of the blender and it was totally one of those RIGHTY LOOSEY, LEFTY TIGHTY things. We had the bottom off within seconds. Seriously, who does that?

I do say....Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween. So I just got back from a monocle and mustache party where I got to speak like I was in The Great Gatsby and be "new money." I do say, it was quite the party.

Now I'm basking in some more holiday fun with The Labyrinth. You know I've got to get my David Bowie fix. Instead of blabbing on about my uneventful life I"ll just leave you with a spooky trailer.

Scary Mary:

Or if scary movies aren't your thing here's a little romantic comedy:
